Paid based rate of the contract - $29.34 an hour
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training, with experience or emphasis in youth development and/or behavior management; knowledge of teaching strategies, curriculum and program materials, and knowledge of child growth and development at assigned school level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of district policies and procedures.
- Assists with the implementation of the school’s behavior management program by promoting a safe and orderly environment.
- Supports individual students in developing strategies and skills, including conflict resolution, responsibility, and problem solving.
- Plans, develops, and implements individual student behavior contracts in collaboration with parents and building administrators.
- Acts as a resource for staff with discipline issues and/or assisting teachers in effective and culturally appropriate classroom management practices.
- Under the direction of an administrator, responds to incidents involving violation of school rules, conflict among students or in relation to the school’s behavior program between students and staff in a way all parties will feel respected, heard, and able to work together for resolution.
- Maintains high standards and expectations for students in a manner that encourages independent learning and personal growth.
- Works with identified students for the purpose of modifying behaviors.
- Maintains, stores, and retrieves information in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using standard office systems, equipment and software.
- Assists the administration in the implementation and evaluation of school-wide positive behavior procedures for all students.
- Supports building/district behavior management program and related school policies/procedures by working with other staff members, students, and parents, in a manner consistent with administrative direction.
- Assists the administration on disciplinary issues that may result in the suspension and/or expulsion.
- Assists in developing programs and/or activities to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
- Uses independent judgment in response to incidents involving, violation of school rules, conflict among students or in relation to the school’s behavior program between students and staff in a way that all parties will feel respected, heard, and able to work together for resolution.
- Assesses, monitors, and provides feedback to students on their academic and/or behavior programs as needed.
- In collaboration with other building staff, collects and reviews data related to school positive behavior goals.
- Works in collaboration with the youth services team, if applicable, which may include the juvenile court system, community resource person and/or agencies that provide services for students and families. Keeps building staff up-to-date on students, as appropriate and as needed.
- Communicates with staff, students, and parents about student behavior and attendance issues in a manner consistent with district policies and procedures.
- Arranges and facilitates meetings among parents, staff, and students, when appropriate, to clarify behavior expectations, as well as identify and resolve issues.
- Works to problem solve and diffuse behavior before escalation occurs.
- Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards immediately to supervisor or administrator.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents, and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Professionally represents the school and the district in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Complies with applicable district, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists as necessary in answering telephones and operating general office machinery including photocopy machine and computer.
- Attends in-service trainings.
- Attends staff meetings as requested.
- Takes precautions to provide for the health and safety of all students.
- Takes precautions to secure and protect district material, equipment, and facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

The employee is required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. On feet throughout the day. Work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing.
Work with students who may exhibit aggressive assaultive behavior, as required of specific job assignment.
The employee must regularly exert force to 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. May be required to restrain a student using moderate strength (20-25 pounds push or pull) and MANDT techniques. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.

Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with routine exposure to the weather including seasonal heat and cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high depending upon the student population and activities. Employee may be exposed to body fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
