Required trainings (before practice begins):
- 1st Aid/CPR/AED required.
- Coaches certificate
- Concussion
- Steroids and performance enhancing drug
- Mini-bus certification
Responsibilities:
- Teach baseball skills and rules to 12-17 7th/8th graders whom have varying amounts of experience
- Basic field preparation
- Issue and inventory uniforms
- Follow school and district athletic policies
- Care of all school facilities and equipment used by team
- Communicate schedule and team needs/concerns with middle school athletic director/administrator
Head Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director
- Establish a total district program and determine system of play, beginning with the Middle School through High School Varsity.
- Coordinate the work of the assistant high school and middle school coaches.
- Cooperate with all other coaches in providing the best overall sports program possible, during each season under existing conditions.
- Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling practice sessions, with consideration given to the rest of the coaching staff and the welfare of the participants.
- Cooperate with the Athletic Director in scheduling, purchasing of equipment, and good public relations.
- Responsible for the marking, inventory, and storage of equipment.
- Turn in necessary information to the Athletic Director such as:
- Alphabetical squad roster
- Physical, medical and insurance forms
- List of recommended award winners at the completion of the season
- Provide correct team information
- Promote fair play and good sportsmanship
- Responsible for the conduct of assistant coaches, players, and managers in each particular sport. Make sure every player signs and turns in an athletic contract.
- Encourage scholastic achievement as well as athletic achievement
- Keep a record of all injuries. Accident forms are to be filled out and turned in within 24 hours after the occurrence.
- Hold parent meetings at the beginning of the season before contests begin.
- Familiarize all players, coaches, assistant coaches and managers on athletic policies, grade requirements, training rules, conduct expectations, and discipline procedures.
- Take all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials and facilities.
- Coordinate with administrators and teaching staff for athletes’ grade eligibility
- Arrange for sufficient coaches to be present at each contest.
- Provide a list of players to be excused for a trip, on the day before the trip, to the Athletic Director and the office. If required, inform the principal that a substitute will be needed.
- Make sure facilities are secure after games and practices
- Takes all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials and facilities.
- Immediately report information regarding abuse of any kind to the appropriate administrator or social service agency.
- Be responsible for district keys
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
- A one season extra duty contract with the salary established by the Board of Education
- Obtain and carry a current first Aid and CPR card.
- Obtain a criminal history background and fingerprint check.
