POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Title: Behavior Consultant (K–12)
Reports To: Superintendent or Designee
Location: Districtwide (Centennial Elementary, Scio Middle School, Scio High School)
FTE: 0.8 FTE (4 days per week)
Contract Status: 152-day work year, licensed position
Salary Range: Prorated based on the Scio School District Confidential Salary Schedule
Start Date: August 2025
POSITION PURPOSE:
Scio School District is seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavior Consultant to support the behavioral and social-emotional needs of K–12 students across our district. This 4-day-per-week position is focused on strengthening student outcomes through proactive, trauma-informed, and inclusive behavior supports. The consultant will work collaboratively with school teams to build capacity in managing challenging behaviors, supporting student regulation, and fostering positive learning environments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and collaborate on individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
- Partner with teachers, counselors, and administrators to implement evidence-based interventions at Tier 2 and Tier 3.
- Coach and model effective classroom management and de-escalation strategies for school staff.
- Support IEP and 504 teams with behavior-related planning, implementation, and progress monitoring.
- Assist with crisis intervention, behavior safety planning, and reentry processes after significant incidents.
- Support the implementation of schoolwide PBIS and restorative practices frameworks.
- Provide professional development for staff on behavior management, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning.
- Collaborate with families to promote consistency between school and home behavior supports.
- Serve all schools in the district; travel between sites as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Oregon TSPC license (Special Education, School Counseling, School Psychology, etc.) or equivalent mental health/behavioral certification (e.g., BCBA, LCSW, LPC).
- Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or behavior analysis.
- K–12 school-based experience addressing behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, inclusive practices, and functional behavior principles.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BCBA certification or significant experience in applied behavior analysis.
- Experience with PBIS, Restorative Practices, and Tiered Interventions.
- Background supporting students with disabilities or complex needs.
- Familiarity with Oregon education law and behavior-related IDEA requirements.
